The Tower Guard

My client is the Tower Guard for the ancient towers of Serranos in Valencia. He is a middle aged gentleman in his early 40’s, single and looking…!
My client, Chavez (meaning the dream Maker in Spanish), spends his days observing society and its comings and goings. Each day is filled with different people, cultures, angles and experiences. While watching the tower as his day job, Chavez charms wonderers from all corners of the globe with his wit and humour. While in his private life he spends much of his time charming his friends and potential lovers. Chavez loves to experience life to the fullest no matter where he is or who he is with. His fondness of fine wines, exquisite food, elaborate clothing and beautiful women means he barely owns his home and keeps it going with minimal upkeep. Life is about how Chavez is perceived and adored, men want to be his friend and women want to be his lover.

The softer side of Chavez shows his love for art and in particular photography, all the watching he has done while guarding the towers has allowed him to experience and visualize so much. While he loves the interaction with people in his day job he spends most of his time eagerly waiting his time away with the camera. He spends many hours just sitting and examining waiting for the perfect shot, rarely snapping unless he has sighted perfection. Chavez’s apartment is full of albums and loose photographs scattered everywhere…but yet he rarely shares them with anyone. Although he appears to be a very public person with his outgoing demeanor and lavish lifestyle, he has a very private side to his personality, which allows him to explore the world of creativity with no criticism or judgment. As the years have slipped by, Chavez is realizing that his life has consisted largely of watching others and capturing the moments in other lives and it is now time that maybe he captures the moments in his own life. Times are changing in Chavez’s life, maybe its time to exhibit his years of captured moments and expose the previously unexposed side of his life…
